A useful place to start

Everyday adjustments for doors, latches, hardware, windows, and screens.

A sticking door may involve hinges, latch alignment, finish buildup, seasonal movement, frame condition, or a structural change. A window that will not operate smoothly can have hardware, balance, track, sash, or frame causes.

The right starting point is a short video of the movement, clear photos of the full opening and hardware, and a description of when the problem appears. Broken glass, egress issues, historic assemblies, and structural movement need specialized review.

Scope note

Historic, custom, structural, or glass-related work may require parts sourcing or a licensed specialist.

Capture how the opening behaves

A still photo shows appearance; a short video often reveals alignment, drag, noise, and the exact point where movement stops.

  • Show the complete door or window from inside and outside when accessible.
  • Record a short video opening, closing, latching, or locking it without forcing it.
  • Photograph hinges, strike plates, tracks, rollers, locks, and damaged screen corners.
  • Note recent paint, flooring, weather, impact, leak, or building movement.
  • Include manufacturer labels, hardware markings, and rough dimensions for parts review.

Questions, answered

Before you request door, window & screen repair.

Can a sticking door always be fixed by trimming it?

No. Loose hinges, a shifted strike plate, finish buildup, humidity, frame movement, or another condition may be the cause. Trimming before identifying the cause can create a larger gap or hide an underlying problem.

Do you replace broken window glass?

Glass type, sash construction, size, location, and safety requirements determine the right provider. Submit photos and measurements so Paloma Pro can identify whether the request needs a glass specialist.

Can you source matching door or window hardware?

Sometimes. Clear photos of the installed part, manufacturer markings, dimensions, finish, and the complete assembly make compatibility research much more useful.
